Abstract

In May 2025 there was y-on-y inflation of 1.72 percent or an increase in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) from 105.84 in May 2024 to 107.66 in May 2025.
Y-on-y inflation occurred due to an increase in prices as indicated by the increase in nine of the eleven expenditure group indices, namely: education group by 21.97 percent; personal care and other services group by 10.06 percent; health group by 6.13 percent; household supplies, equipment and routine maintenance group by 1.03 percent; food and beverage/restaurant supply group by 0.85 percent; clothing and footwear group by 0.8 percent; recreation, sports and culture group by 0.52 percent; housing, water, electricity and household fuel group by 0.04 percent; information, communication and financial services group by 0.02 percent.
The month to month (m-to-m) deflation rate was 0.43 percent and the year to date (y-to-d) inflation rate was 0.40 percent.
